Ideation Sketches for Animal Characters
The Tigoreagle Dream Animal
This Dream Animal project combines features of tiger, gorilla and eagle into a new animal called Tigoreagle, and has been completed as the Final Project in the Art 215 Animal Drawing course in the Summer Session of 2013 taught by Professor Michael Owens.
Other Dream Animals
The gyrfalcon (海东青), also spelled gerfalcon (Falco rusticolus) is the largest of the falcon species, and the totem of the Manchu Nation.
The Holy Ever-White Mountain, or Golmin Šanggiyan Alin in Manchu, Changbai Mountain in Chinese (长白山), is an active volcano in China close to the border with North Korea. It is a holy place for the Manchu Nation. |
Suggested Project:
Create quick sketches of a Dream Animal combining features of at least three of your chosen animals (sea, land, and sky), with HB pencils first, on 8.5 in x 11 in white paper; next, use a black ball point pen or thin tip marker to trace over the sketch and create the final outlines of your Dream Animal; use an eraser to remove pencil marks if necessary; next, use color pencils (regular, woodless, or square sticks, as shown in Figure A-1 and Figure A-2 in the Animal Drawing page) to make a quick color rendering. Scan your sketches and save as jpeg files. Write a short statement about your Dream Animal and its name in Microsoft Word. Email the jpeg sketch file, the Dream Animal Statement together with a short paragraph stating your request and authorization to publish it on my website’s Student Works Section, including your name and the name of your school; if you want viewers to contact you through email, please indicate so.
