The Tree of Life Mono-printing and Watercolor Project
In the two projects below, watercolor paintings have been completed over two mono-prints. A mono-print is a single impression of an image made from a reprintable block. In the projects below, the creation of the artworks have been completed in the following steps:
Alternatively, oil-based printing inks could be used in lieu of watercolors.
More information on mono-printing and mono-typing are available online from Google search:
- A thin coat of Yes Paste Acid-Free Non-Toxic Water Based Glue was applied with a 2 inch wide painting brush to the surface of a 1/8 inch thick plastic plate previously sanded with fine grain sand paper block, and let dry;
- Watercolor painting with expressive brush strokes was made on the Yes Paste-coated surface of the plastic plate, and let dry;
- Watercolor paper sheet was wetted in a sink and sandwiched between two paper towels to remove extra water, and then placed against the surface of the plastic plate with watercolor painting, and run through a printing press so that the painting could be transfer to the watercolor paper sheet. This created the first impression of mono-print with thick and rich watercolor marks (Figure WCP-3A).
- After the mono-print impression was dried, a "normal" watercolor painting was made on top of it to add more details.
Alternatively, oil-based printing inks could be used in lieu of watercolors.

The Lithographic Watercolor Projects: Halloween Pumpkins and Corns Series
About Halloween ...
According to Wikipedia the Free Encyclopedia, "Halloween or Hallowe'en (a contraction of All Hallows' Evening), also known as Allhalloween, All Hallows' Eve, or All Saints' Eve, is a celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It begins the three-day observance of Allhallowtide, the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed."

Almost 95% of the park is designated wilderness."
Still Life Daily Objects Observation Project
The projects below are completed from observation as classroom exercises in the beginning watercolor course at Pasadena City College, taught by Professor Robin Mitchell. These classroom exercises have built a solid foundation for my artistic skills in watercolor and allows me to win an award at Pasadena City College and a place in the Featured Artist Show at Guisados Restaurant. Further works might be done to make them more creative.

Watercolor Portrait Painting Projects
The portraits below have been created after photographic images in a photo-realistic style.
Alcohol Ink Painting Techniques
Alcoholic paints are in thin liquid and contained in bottles. In addition to the paint, Claro Extender could be used to add special effects by extending the drying time and increasing transparency without decreasing color intensity. Drops could be applied to paper or canvas. Brushes, paper towels and sponges could be used too. Alcohol drops could be used to push the paint to the edges, or to wash the paint off. Yupo Medium paper (including Regular and Translucent types), sold at Blick's (Product Number L21-YUP197WH912, Bar Code 6 45248 434707) are specially designed for alcoholic paints. Watercolor paper or any types of paper could be used too. 91% alcohol is best for working with this medium and Plastic Droppers (5 Pack, Bar Code 7 43772 10051 5) could be used to apply alcohol to the painted surface to create special effects. For painting on stretched canvases, Liquitex Professional Gesso is the best. After the paint is dried, alcohol or Cleanup Solution could be used to remove it. Generally speaking, the dried paint is water resistant. Alcohol paint could be applied over watercolor painting but NOT vice versa. Acrylic paint could be applied over alcoholic painting.
Alcohol Ink Painting MediumBlick Art Supplies carries the following alcohol paint product: Jacquard Pianta Colors (Bar Code 7 43772 99160), a set of 9 bottles (Sunbright Yellow, Calabaza Orange, Señorita Magenta, Baja Blue, Rainforest Green, Passion Purple, Blanco Blanco, Mantilla Black, and Rich Gold), plus individual bottles with additional colors (Sangria, Havana Brown, Silver, Santa Fee Red, Sapphire Blue, Chili Pepper, and Tangerine).
