The Clash of the Two Globes
This short Flash movie clip has been completed as an assignment ("the Ball Jumping") in the Animation 218 (Fundamentals of Animation) taught in the Spring 2014 semester at East Los Angeles College by Professor Michael Libonati. It is the first in-class exercise to create Flash movie clip that I have successfully attempted using the current version of the software.
In this Flash movie, the assignment is to animate the scene of two balls jumping and scratching on a ground. I expanded the topic to create a story of the initial clash and final reconciliation between Western and Eastern civilizations, as symbolized by two images of the Earth, one representing the East and the other the West, which morphed into two dancing characters celebrating human reconciliation and solidarity at the end of the clip. The images of the Two Globes, the cloudy sky and the grassland are imported jpeg files; the facial and body parts of the dancing characters (eyes, mouth, limbs and wings) have been created using using the traditional frame-by-frame animation technique, with Paint Brush, Bucket, Scale and Selection tools; the Text tool has been used to create animated captions.
